Stories of Memory is intended to be a place where users can contribute to a discussion on the nature of unconscious recall. Why, how and when do we remember (often insignificant) things, places, events etc. that we'd long forgotten about?

Investigating my own processes of memories popping into my head 'from nowhere', I have started to notice patterns... maybe the memories of places from my distant past aren't so 'out of the blue', maybe I'm unconsciously creating a connection between what I'm doing/ seeing in the present moment with the place in my memory.

I've begun to see these connections as a source of ideas for visual works and am working towards exhibiting them in the Liverpool College of Art at the end of August 2009.

If you have any ideas you'd like to share on how you or those close to you remember things from the past, please go to the forum page and add to current discussions or start another.

If you would like an invite to the final show, please send me an email to say so via the contact page.

Many thanks, Sophie Bower
